A girl who needs to undo the past.
A boy who wants to forget it.
In love, there’s no way back.
At high school in Steep Hill, Kansas, Cassie O’Malley and Josh MacBride were the poster couple for quarterback/cheerleader romance until they starred in their own tale of teen pregnancy. No need to say: their shotgun wedding was low-key. But when there was no baby anymore, they went their separate ways.
Five years later, Josh has breezed through Georgetown and is about to finish his post-grad degree at Oxford University. He is set to join a lobbying group on Capitol Hill, owned by his new fiancĂ©e’s father. For Josh, the sky is now the limit… only he must first take care of a tiny legal matter: technically, he’s still married to the girl who broke his heart.
Meanwhile, Cassie has been waiting tables in Steep Hill to pay for her sick grandmother’s care. On the day of the old lady’s funeral, Cassie is served with two sets of papers. Josh is asking for a divorce. Her heart squeezes, but, well, he moved on a long time ago. But the second envelope shakes Cassie to the core. So, for the first time, she leaves Kansas and heads to good ol’ England.
There, Cassie finds that Josh has not just “moved on,” he’s freakin’ engaged to some blue-blooded heiress. The feelings Cassie had buried deep rush back to her. But no matter if he keeps thrusting the divorce papers under her nose, she needs him to save the only person she loves more than Josh, more than life itself… (via Goodreads)
Wow, that was intense. I knew there was more to it than Cassie and Josh breaking up. The blurb already gave it away in some ways. It's just so heartbreaking in a way, okay? When I think about such things, my heart will always go to the little one who will always catch the downfall of the parents.
I'm so happy to say that after reading some formulaic NA novels, ta-da! This was different. Or well, for me. I swear. I wasn't really sure if Cassie and Josh will end up together. I had a time bomb in my heart. Given that there were a lot of factors to be considered, Cassie and Josh weren't really in the place to think of their love first. Some things have to be on top of their priority list. And honestly, I admire them especially Cassie because she actually did some things which were really hard to do. It was so unselfish for her to do such things. But I think they're pretty stupid too. Especially what she did after they got married. You know how some people do things because they thought it was the best thing for everyone? Well, that was Cassie. As for Josh, well, he did something at the latter part which actually surprised me. To think that everything was already laid out in front of him, money, security, and prosperous future, he still chose what he really love. All along.
Of course, someone will always be there to stop the young couple to be happy! That villain wasn't characterized so well. That was what I felt. How do I say it? I know he didn't want Josh and Cassie to have the baby but that's it. I didn't feel his superiority in the novel all along. It's like he was a hidden character but he was there at times. I just didn't feel him that much. But whatever, I still hate him.
So, you're wondering if Cassie and Josh ended up together, aren't you? Well, just buy and read the book so you'll know. I actually want to tell you the story, mind you. But I don't want to spoil your reading. It's just that, a lot of things happened and you just have to read it so you'll experience it!
No Reverse is truly a great novel about unselfish love, second chances, and forgiveness. It'll make your heart nervous because you'll keep on guessing if Josh and Cassie will end up together. It'll make you realize that sometimes, there's more to love than just love itself.
