Twenty-two-year-old Aern is done watching his brother destroy the only thing that matters. He never wanted to take Morgan’s place among council, never wanted to rule their hidden world. But when the key to the prophecy is found, a young girl named Brianna whom Morgan will destroy, Aern knows he has to take action.

What he really wants, is for things to go back to normal. But now he’s kidnapped a girl, and his brother’s men are after him. His only hope is to join with the Division, but they have plans of their own, and it’s the last thing Aern is willing to do.

Emily just wants her sister back. She doesn't care about the prophecy, or realize what’s at stake. But when she goes after Aern, the truth of the matter uncoils, and Brianna isn't the only one who’s in danger.

Suddenly, they’re at the center of a secret war, and unless they can work together, they’ll both have a sacrifice too big to make.  (via Goodreads)

Review!

Bound by Prophecy is far by my fastest read ever. I don't know how or even why but I finished it in 2 and a 1/2 hours. That is so unusual because I'm sort of a slow reader.
You see, this book was so easy to read, easy to be connected within their world. The world that Melissa created was kinda fascinating. It led me to believe that I was in a world like theirs which was so scary in a way because of the bad guys. Although I would love an even more in-depth description of their world because for some reason, it was like reading a fantasy story in a contemporary world. The only magical stuff is the magic that Brianna has and the prophecy that they hold onto. But still, Melissa wrote it in such a way that it was believable even if it's only for those two factors.
What I liked most is the suspense. Even if for some reason, I already know what the twist was in the end, it didn't spoil my reading experience. It was still that nerve-wracking kind of read. I can say that it's actually fast-paced but just on the right levels. It kept me reading straight without even stopping once.
The fact that the MC is a male character is a nice change. I've always found myself reading from a female's POV. Especially in fantasies. Even if Aern is not that swoony, the romance didn't disappoint. Also for the first time, I loved how the romance didn't eat up the book.
I actually can't wait to read the next book. I'm so curious as to how the prophecy will turn their world upside down. Especially if they knew who the chosen one really is.
So yes, I'm recommending this book to anyone who loves some suspense-filled book with the right amount of romance!
